English

The English major provides intellectual adventure as well as marketable analytical and communication skills. Majors enjoy reading British, American, and world literature alongside in-depth explorations of fiction, poetry, drama, and writing. We also offer a minor in creative writing, where you can develop your craft in small poetry or fiction workshops and tutorials.

Your experience with the English major doesn't stop in the classroom. You can participate in the Visiting Writers Series, working with Pulitzer-prize winning authors. You can submit your creative work for publication in the campus literary magazine, Cantos. You can write for the Lenoir-Rhynean, our campus newspaper, or the HACAWA, the yearbook.

With a Lenoir-Rhyne English major, you'll explore vibrant, thought-provoking literature and learn the critical and analytical skills that will prepare you for a career of your choice.
